Our Story

I spent years putting beauty products to the test.
Before founding Biodance, I introduced thousands of beauty products to audiences across Korea as a show host on live television.
I was what you might call a serious beauty obsessive. Preparing for a live broadcast meant trying and comparing dozens of products from the same category, then noting exactly how they differed, from texture and formula to ingredients and finish. Some months, I spent more money on beauty products than I earned.
I read customer reviews as carefully as I read ingredient lists. Honestly, I was one of the most demanding consumers you could meet. At the time, I believed I understood skin better than almost anyone.
Then, an accident changed everything. It changed the course of my career and fundamentally changed the way I thought about skin and skincare.

The day that changed my life.
In 2013, I was hit by a van in a crosswalk right outside my home. My face struck the asphalt.
I suffered severe injuries — facial fractures, more than sixty stitches, burns along my jaw and neck, and damage to my thigh muscle. Doctors told me the scars on my face would be permanent.
I could no longer do the work I knew best. As a beauty TV show host, I had worked in front of cameras that captured every detail of my skin under bright studio lights. The scars made it difficult to return, but what I lost first was my confidence. For the first time, I understood just how deeply the condition of your skin can affect your life.
Recovery became my sole focus. For six months, I stayed indoors behind blackout curtains, avoiding sunlight and water while trying nearly every treatment available.
To find a faster path to recovery, I tried everything to restore my skin, from scar patches, silicone patches, ointments, to countless skincare products. Too much moisture left my healing skin overly soft. Too little caused it to harden. Neither extreme worked. What my skin needed was the right balance.
Of the treatments I tried, medical-grade hydrogel was the one that helped me understand that balance. It helped create and maintain a moist, protected environment, allowing my skin to recover naturally. Through that experience, I realized just how essential the right environment is for the skin to restore itself.

But I also saw a gap. Medical-grade hydrogel was effective, but uncomfortable and impractical for everyday use. Cosmetic products were pleasant to use, but they did not deliver the visible results I was looking for.
That left me with one question, one that stayed with me for years.
“Could a product deliver visible results and still be comfortable enough to use every day?”
At first, I thought it was only my own frustration. Over time, however, I realized that many people were facing the same challenge. From that point on, I stopped asking myself, “Which product should I buy?” and began asking, “Why doesn't this product exist yet?”
The desire to answer that question led me to found Biodance.
Biodance — Balance In Our Guidance.
Why Biodance exists.
Those six months left me with this principle: effective skincare depends not only on what you apply, but also on the condition of the skin receiving it.
So the first question was never simply, “which ingredient should we add?” It was, “how can we create the right conditions for that ingredient to be delivered and benefit the skin?” Even the best ingredients cannot deliver their full value if the skin is not ready to receive them effectively.
At Biodance, we focus not only on which ingredients to include, but also on creating an environment that helps the skin receive and make the most of those ingredients. Hydrogel is the clearest expression of that philosophy, and refining it into skincare people want to reach for every day has taken years of research and development.

That work helped bring hydrogel masks into everyday skincare routines around the world.
Biodance grew in the way I had hoped it would. People tried our products, saw a difference in their own skin, and chose to share it. Our customers recognized the product first, and their stories carried Biodance from Korea to people around the world.
“I don't want Biodance to be a brand that shines for a moment and fades. I want to build something that lasts.”
